Wisdom & Prophecy

If you are someone who has a prophetic gifting- i.e. you have dreams, visions, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, or you desire the gift of prophecy, (Paul says to earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, and He desires that all would prophesy as he does: 1 Corinthians 14:1-5), then read the slides above and the message ⬇️

In my quiet time, I have been praying for those with the gift of prophecy. The slides above are a part of what God said to me, and below are some of the things He has taught me. May these words serve as encouragement and support to you:

1. Prophecy is for the glorification of Jesus- Revelation 19:10 “The essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”

2. Prophecy is for the edification of the church- 1 Corinthians 14:4 “A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.”

3. Prophecy is for a particular time. Whenever God says speak, you must immediately and without fear, however, sharing prematurely can cause discouragement and confusion. There are some dreams, visions, prophetic words etc that are for years to come. They are not to be shared now or sometimes shared ever! Learning to steward the gift with wisdom, means you ask God what He intends that you do with what He has shared with you. Sometimes God is just sharing things in confidence because it is solely an invitation to intercede, to be intimate with Him, and to be invited into friendship with Him. At all times it’s the former but in other times in conjunction with the former you are released to share, but there is an appointed time to share. Again, sometimes the appointed time is immediate, but seek His wisdom about the timeline first.- Habakuk 2:3 “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

4. Prophecy can sometimes come in part. God sometimes gives you a portion of a dream, vision or word, and you must be faithful to wait for the other part. In some instances He may even lead you to speak/ share with someone else, but at ALL times seek Him for first for instructions. Sometimes He just wants to talk to you and show you more about Himself and so He gives you a portion intentionally so you can come to Him for deeper revelation, so even if it seems like a complete and clear word, dream etc, you must always run to Him in intercession because He may even expound further. 1 Corinthians 13:9 “For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.”

God wants people who are careful with His sheep, always directing them to run to Him and not them, to rely on Him and not them. You are a mouthpiece and messenger, but He is the source and fountain they need to run to, and continually drink from.
